World Muaythai Association

The World Muaythai Association (WMA) was formed to promote the ancient art of Muaythai around the world. It has been observed by many martial arts lovers that the techniques of this pristine art have been altered by many people to suit their individual needs. These alterations were made randomly and without any basis. The result of these frivolous alterations was that the art of Muaythai started suffering and started losing its true character. There are some organisations in the world and also in Thailand that have even altered the very basic rules of Muaythai competition. They have changed the number of rounds. The judging and refereeing standards started plummeting. Even persons who have never studied or practiced this art were given licenses to judge and referee the Muaythai bouts. Many organizations in the world and also in Thailand are selling such bogus certificates by merely holding 3 or 4 day seminars. These practices have resulted in a heavy toll on the real art of Muaythai. Persons ignorant about Muaythai are being given certificates by self styled masters who have no real knowledge of Muaythai. The World Muaythai Association (WMA) was established to bring back the former glory of the sport of Muaythai and to make the people world over realize the true aspects of the art of Muaythai.

Future Goals

The aim of the WMA is to promote unity among all Muaythai practitioners all over the world. After establishing the WMA the Professional Muaythai Promoters of the world can now communicate freely with Thai promoters and the WMA can arrange for truly International professional Muaythai events in which professional Muaythai boxers of the world can come together and exhibit their Muaythai skills. The multiple exposure to all Muaythai boxers will help to develop the sport of professional Muaythai in all corners of the world.The WMA will organise league matches which will end in Belt Titles in all weight categories. The Belt Titles will carry a big cash incentive to the winner and the loser. The WMA will be making arrangements for television broadcasting of all matches and the quarter finals until the Belt Title matches will be telecast live.
